LAN’S HEAD-2-HEAD TAKE

Today I played the PS3 demo and must admit: GRAPHICS ARE INSANE!! The NBA game was nice but not overly impressive because gloss and shininess don’t = realism; but it still is a visual treat. (Hardwood reflections are ill!) Then I played the moto demo game and had a blast! The graphics are great, and the gameplay itself was very fun. (For a last-gen controller scheme)
Then I switched over to play Excite Truck on the Wii. I was at first taken aback by the graphical disparity (and yes, it’s QUITE noticeable) but quickly forgot about it as I got into beating the store employee 2 of 3 games. Two things I noticed from this: 1) Though a previous comment of mine was dissing Excite Truck, the second time around was awesome. I think this second play I’ve started to become accomodated with the Wii Remote, and consequently the game was much less of a surprise, and more fun! 2) I wound up completely forgetting that the game wasn’t as visually stunning, because I was having fun!
WHEN CHOOSING ONE SYSTEM I think it’s clear that if your a hardcore gamer, you go with the PS3 or XBOX360. If you are a casual gamer/social person, you go with the Wii. I also think that many should consider the Wii + one of the other two. The Wii will be like the boardgame/ deck of cards that can always bring folks together and keep a party going. (apart from all the more serious games on Wii) All of the reviews that have been coming out this week clearly show the Wii to be the most fun of the three, but that doesn’t mean it’s better than the other two. Choose one to go with now, and cop the other at the next price drop!

ZTP = 9.5 on IGN

IGN Reviews Twilight Princess
“The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is, in my opinion, the greatest Zelda game ever created and one of the best launch titles in the history of launch titles – second only, perhaps, to the at-the-time ground-breaking Super Mario 64. It is also one of the finest games I have ever played. The experience is made better and not worse on Wii. The Wii remote and nunchuk add accuracy and speed to exploration and combat for a heightened sense of immersion. …The game has just about everything going for it, including improved controls, a long and engrossing quest, brain-teasing dungeons and some beautiful graphics…Twilight Princess is must-see, must-play and must-own entry into the series that proves over and over again why Nintendo is the best developer in the world.”

PS3 Is A Waste of TIME
Days after calling Wii Sports possibly “the greatest videogame ever made“, TIME has a new bold statement for you: don’t buy a PS3…yet.
Lev Grossman went so far as to say of those who’ve camped out already “both their time and money has been wasted”.
Read why in his article: Sony’s Playstation 3 Is Not Worth The Hype
